CASE Course Experience

"The CASE Course on Leonardo da Vinci and Dragonfly Flight provided me with experience in collaborating with others in academic disciplines that are different from my own, such as engineering and the arts.  The course captured the importance of looking at multiple perspectives when addressing problems in research.  Additionally, participating in associated outreach helped me to develop skills in delivering science to a young audience."

CURE Course Experience

"Although the onset of the pandemic forced a shift into a hybrid course, I would still say that being involved in the Ants and Microbes CURE class was one of the most valuable learning experiences I've had in college.  I saw immense growth in my presentation, communication, and research skills and gained exposure and training in wet-lab techniques.  Dr. Ascunce and the whole lab team were so supportive and demonstrated the importance of being adaptable and positive during stressful circumstances.  These skills (technical and soft, alike) have already proven useful in my other classes and have helped me stand out as I apply to other labs and industry opportunities.  As a bonus, although I am afraid of most insects, I definitely have a fondness for ants after taking this course!"
